October 22, 2016 @ 7:30 pm

hulaville opryThe Hot Club of Hulaville salutes Hawaii’s Paniolo history at the Doris Duke Theatre on October 22 at 7:30

The Hulaville Player’s – fresh off their triumph with Dylanesque and Troubadour, will go country with this Grand Old Opry – style revue. There will be authentic Paniolo Dance, great slack key masters, balladeers and songstresses, and of course, the Na Hoku Hanohano Award-winning ensemble – The Hot Club of Hulaville. The Hulaville Players  have created multi-media walk-through-time honoring Hawaii’s Cowboys nee Paniolo. The Paniolo Roadhouse Opry These were real cowboys who were on the scene 40 years before there were domestic herds on the American Prairie. The  program will follow the thread from this idyllic Paniolo period all the way up to Western Swing and where we are today.. Hawaii has lots of input in World Music.. this is just one of them.

To set the stage, clips of Edgy Lee’s fabulous award-winning documentary Paniolo O Hawaii will open our Roadhouse Opry show. Hawaii’s top filmmaker will be on hand to talk about this film, the people depicted, and this great cultural heritage – for not only Hawaii… but for the world.

So see the footage, hear the music, feel the romance, as Hulaville does its magic… Hawaii’s favorite art ensemble…
