Billy V In The Morning

Veterans Day

by Billy V posted Nov 11 2010 2:33AM

Today is a day where we salute those who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America.  ItÊ»s a pretty big statement, but means more in a personal sense.  My Uncle (who IÊ»m named after) is Retired Marine Corp.  HeÊ»s served for many years in many theaters of activity.

His sons have served, and now his daughter; my cousin is headed towards the middle east.  ItÊ»s something she has volunteered to do.

Krash Kealoha, who has helped to shape my career in radio is a Veteran.

WeÊ»re surrounded by members of the 442nd and live right by Pearl Harbor.

We have a continuous amount of troops that are returning and are being deployed.  We have loved ones that are serving all over the world.

I have only one thing to gripe about:  All of these Vets have served us to make sure we have the rights and enjoy the life we have.  DonÊ»t we owe it to them to exercise our right to vote?  Everytime we look at the Arizona Memorial and see the oil seeping from the ship and know that there are men and women under there that lost their lives, canÊ»t we at least go down to a voting booth and have a say?  IsnÊ»t that what they fought for? (amongst other things)

IÊ»m Hawaiian and I Vote.  I love my shirt.  IÊ»m proud of being able to do it.  IÊ»m proud of our vets.  Lots of Hawaiians have served our Hawaii with distinction.  We are proud of you all...
