What a wonderful weekend in Waimanalo. Lots of people out in front of the stage enjoying beautiful hawaiian music at itʻs best; keiki thru kupuna sharing their mele, giving their manaʻo and remembering the wonderful days of Bell Street in Waimanalo, the place that gave birth to not only a sound of hawaiian music, but a lifestyle.
Backstage was like a continuous family reunion as scores of entertainers arrived to give their aloha or to play music on stage. People that have played together many times in the past, people that knew Gabby on a very personal level, to those who never met Gabby, but know how special he is to all of the Hawaiian music world and to his family.
There was also lots of prizes, great food, paʻiʻai demonstrations and workshops....lots of information from groups and organizations. Almost all of the politicians running for office were there at one point or another. Congratulations to Cyril Pahinui, the Pahinui ohana and all of the volunteers for a wonderful event; canʻt wait till next year!
